Our client had several aging lines of business – all of which required innovation to remain competitive. Of course, innovation is inherently disruptive, and can be downright threatening to the individuals being asked to innovate. We were asked to support a new unit within the business whose mission was to find viable new technologies, processes and models to modernize the core capabilities of the organization.

One experiment began as an exploration for new business models to support existing food operator clients. Our analysis revealed that food service operators, in general, are not concerned with saving five cents on a bag of rice. Instead, we discovered an opportunity to improve food service inventory management process (counting and ordering). Servli, is a new business model for our client with an accompanying application for food service operators helping them to save hours of counting and ordering time each month.
